Sheffield Hallam’s 100% online Master of Public Health (MPH) equips you with an understanding of the wider determinants of health outcomes and population health and the links between evidence, policy, and practice. Through this lens, you will gain the skills and knowledge needed for leadership in the development and delivery of critical public health policy and initiatives.

Drawing on models and theories from sociology and public policy, it is suited to working professionals interested in the social elements of health outcomes and how they can be influenced to improve disease prevention and population health in a range of settings and contexts, including, education, the workplace, urban planning, transport infrastructure, agriculture and more.

Entry requirements

To study Sheffield Hallam’s 100% online Master of Public Health (MPH) you will need to have completed:

  • A UK undergraduate honours degree in a relevant health discipline with a 2:2 classification (or equivalent).

If you do not meet this requirement, we could still consider you if you have either:

  • A lower degree classification in a relevant health discipline and a minimum of 1 year’s work experience in a related field


OR

  • A non-related degree with a minimum of 3 years public health experience within the last 5 years.

Applicants whose first language is not English, or most recent education or work experience was not in English will need to demonstrate proficiency by completing an approved English language test such as IELTS (6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing, and no individual element below 5.5) or equivalent.
